Estonian wood industry technology provider Hekotek participated in a business delegation visit to Vietnam from April 21–24, organized by the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The visit aimed to strengthen economic and trade relations between Estonia and Vietnam and to create new export opportunities for Estonian companies in the rapidly developing Southeast Asian region.
The visit was led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Margus Tsahkna and included 12 Estonian companies from various sectors. The program featured business forums, B2B meetings, and company visits focused on developing international partnerships.
For Hekotek, the main focus of the visit was to identify and assess the potential for wood pellet production among Vietnamese companies. The company sees growing interest in biomass utilization and renewable energy solutions in Vietnam, creating favorable conditions for the development of pellet production and the adoption of modern technologies.
“Vietnam and Southeast Asia as a whole have a strong raw material base, and markets with increasing biomass energy demand in Japan and South Korea are nearby. Our goal was to find local partners who want to develop or expand pellet production and bring effective and sustainable solutions to the market,” said Margo Muzakko, Chairman of the Board of Hekotek.
Hekotek’s technologies are already in use in Vietnam — the company’s equipment is utilized by the Japanese company Biomass Fuel, demonstrating the reliability and suitability of its solutions in local conditions.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, such business delegation visits help open new markets for Estonian companies, strengthen international competitiveness, and support the diversification of exports.
Hekotek will continue to actively develop cooperation opportunities in Vietnam, with a particular focus on advancing pellet production and biomass processing projects.
